Emergency Notification System

About Emergency Notifications

Citizens have the opportunity to receive emergency notifications in the event of possible flooding, a missing child, weather dangers, evacuation notices, and other emergency events.

An important aspect of any emergency is ensuring accurate information is given to people in a timely manner. This can be accomplished in several ways, and in order for your emergency plan to work effectively, plan to use multiple methods to receive direction and information during emergencies.
  • Emergency Alert System (EAS): These notices come over the radio and TV.
  • Social Media: The city, the fire department, and the police department each have Facebook and Twitter accounts. Follow these for accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Telephones: We have the ability to call land lines within an affected area and advise citizens of issues.
  • Cell Phones: Because many residents no longer have land lines in their homes, we have purchased a product called CodeRED that allows us to reach citizens through their cell phones and mobile devices.

CodeRED

CodeRED is an emergency notification service that allows emergency officials to notify residents and businesses by telephone, cell phone, text message, email and social media regarding time-sensitive general and emergency notifications, but it only works when residents register their cell phone numbers and email addresses to get notifications.

Sign up for CodeRED, or simply download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app and register through the app to receive alerts wherever you go.

Get informed, get CodeRED.
